Early full vellum (by White, 24 Pall Mall); spine gilt in compartments with leather title-labels; sides bordered in gilt; edges marbled; covers a little soiled and scuffed; slight worming to the head of the rear joint of the first volume; moderate offsetting from the frontispiece; minimal foxing to the endpapers and adjacent blanks; an excellent set.

An attractive early edition of this classic of bibliography. With the early armorial bookplate of the English classical scholar Benjamin Bickley Rogers, and the later bookplate of Hardwicke Knight.
