Hague's History of the Law in South Australia, 1837-1867
Adelaide, University of Adelaide Barr Smith Press, 2005.
Quarto, xii, 943 pages with hundreds of illustrations plus a colour pictorial 'half-title'.
Half cream leather and green cloth, with contrasting title-labels on the spine; a fine copy.
The manuscript for this work was completed in 1936, and it remained unpublished for nearly 70 years. This first edition also includes a biography of the author by Helen Whitington and a foreword by the Honourable Justice Perry; the superb selection of illustrations was compiled and captioned by Bruce Greenhalgh. These leather-bound editions were effectively produced on demand (we commissioned this one), and they are rare on the open market.
