The set comprises BOWDLER SHARPE, R.: British Birds (four volumes with 124 colour plates); OGILVIE-GRANT, W.R.: Handbook to the Game Birds (two volumes with 42 colour plates); KIRBY, W.F.: Handbook to the Order Lepidoptera (five volumes with 159 colour plates); FORBES, H.O.: Handbook to the Primates (two volumes with 49 colour plates and a few folding maps); LYDEKKER, R.: Handbook to the British Mammalia (one volume with 32 colour plates); Handbook to the Marsupialia and Monotremata (one volume with 38 colour plates) and Handbook to the Carnivora (one volume with 32 colour plates). Original dark red cloth lightly marked and slightly rubbed at the extremities; spines very lightly sunned; two spines slightly snagged at the head, with a third a little torn; flyleaves offset (with library stamps on those of one volume); one plate - reattached with paper tape - a little proud of the leading edge; one volume a little bowed, with the rear board cracked but not broken; overall a very good set with the armorial bookplate of Humphrey Marten in each volume.
