Original printed textured wrappers with the full title page details repeated on the front cover; wrappers slightly marked and a little dusty, with light wear to the ends of the spine; inner margin of one leaf creased (a minor production flaw); a very good copy.
A presentation copy, inscribed on the verso of the title page 'To Walter Howchin Esq F.G.S. etc | with the writer's best wishes | Wetunga | 3/10/14'. Walter Howchin (1845-1937), English-born geologist and clergyman, emigrated to Adelaide in 1881. He was 'elected to the Royal Society of South Australia in 1883, beginning an association of fifty-three years; he was editor for most of the time until 1933, president in 1894-96 and published seventy-seven, mostly geological, papers in the Transactions'. McLaren 16759 ('Expedition commenced from Port Augusta on 21 August 1912'). Not noted (and presumably not noticed) by the bibliographer, pages 42-58 contain 'Bird Life on the Lakes. Ornithological Observations', an account of an earlier short journey White and his wife took to the Murray Lakes and environs in late February 1912.
