From Ingleburn to Aitape. The Trials and Tribulations of a Four Figure Man

Lakemba, The Author, 1981.

Octavo, [vi], 217 pages with numerous illustrations plus text and illustrations on all surfaces of the cover.

Saddle-stapled pictorial card covers lightly sunned and bumped at the corners (impacting a little on the text block throughout); spine lightly chipped at the ends; a very good copy.

'The 2/3rd Australian Infantry Battalion was formed on the outbreak of the 1939-45 war and was one of two battalions in the British Commonwealth who had the honour of fighting all the King's enemies during that great world conflagration. Bolt Holt was an original of this proud unit and fought with his battalion till the cessation of hostilities' (cover blurb)

A presentation copy, inscribed and signed by the author to Dick Kimber (Richard Glyn Kimber AM, 1939-2024, Centralian author and historian). An autographed letter signed by the author is loosely inserted. It contains some sobering comments: 'There were a bundle of characters into the A.I.F. early in the piece, but I believe the Owen Stanleys knocked the stuffing out of the army. Those that didn't become casualties were that knocked about very few of the older men returned to the battalion after that campaign'. [2 items].
