Orange cloth lettered in brown; covers slightly rubbed and bumped, and a little discoloured about the top edge; scattered foxing; contemporary gift inscription (Christmas 1933) on the front free endpaper; edges foxed, with occasional light scattered foxing elsewhere; mild signs of age and handling; a very good copy with the scarce pictorial dustwrapper (chipped and a little worn, sunned and stained, with a couple of small tape repairs on the verso and a price blacked out on the front flap).
'The scenes described in this book are laid on and around the cattle runs of the Corner, between 1906 and 1923; but largely on my old home, Mooraberrie - an old cattle station of some three hundred and sixty square miles, lying a hundred and thirty-eight miles west of Windorah.... I have condensed considerably my account of the aborigines, their customs and curious rites, but have kept to fact, and only recorded things as I saw them' (foreword). Notwithstanding, there is still much on the local Indigenous people. The design for this scarce first edition dustwrapper is by Arthur Harold Moginie.
