Gilt-pictorial olive-green cloth; all edges uncut, with numerous small chips, marginal irregularities and a few short tears where leaves have been opened carelessly; cloth a little flecked, marked and lightly bumped at the corners, with slight wear to the ends of the spine; trifling blemishes to the front free endpaper; minor signs of age and handling; a very good copy.
The book went through four editions in five years, with a limited edition facsimile appearing in 1979. The second edition still contains the author's embarrassing confession of an event that occurred when she was being driven around McLaren Vale by a local man. On page 184 she writes 'I regret to say I broke the Seventh Commandment', when she reached up from the seat in her buggy and sampled some almonds growing overhead.
