Cream cloth lettered in green on the spine and front cover; foot of the spine lightly bumped; top edge dyed light green; an excellent copy in the very good price-clipped dustwrapper (slightly rubbed at the extremities and lightly chipped at the head of the spine, the spine sunned with slight loss to the foot, with the top edge and foot of the spine reinforced on the verso with vintage clear tape). The top corner of the front flap has '$3.00' clipped from it, and the bottom corner of the rear flap has 'Patrick White | The Aunt's Story | Viking Press' clipped from it.
'Viking did not intend to send proofs to White. White insisted and then proceeded to make 31 corrections. Fourteen of these were accepted and an errata slip was added to the first printing. In the second printing the errors were corrected. The United States edition was published by The Viking Press early in 1948 ... The United Kingdom edition was published by Routledge in August 1948' (Hubber, page 22). Hubber E1a (noting an edition of 6000 copies, and that the errata leaf is tipped in after A3.
