Eight hundred kilometres south-west of Alice Springs is a waterhole, first mapped and named by Ernest Giles in his 1874 expedition, and later, visited by Michael Terry. Barry Allwright, a retired surveyor (who first surveyed Surveyor-General's Corner in 1968), seeks to correct the record regarding the exact location of this critical source of permanent water.
