The Bradman Albums. Selections from Sir Donald Bradman's Official Collection. Volume 1: 1925-1934... Volume 2: 1935-1949
Sydney, Rigby, 1987.
Quarto, two volumes, a total of 800 pages with numerous plates (a number in colour) and facsimile newspaper clippings.
Full green calf lettered in gilt on the spine and decorated in blind on the front covers; rear cover of the first volume lightly scored; tiny abrasion to the front cover of the second volume; a near-fine set in the excellent cloth-covered slipcase with reproduction embroidered 1928-29 and 1948 Australian blazer pockets mounted on the front and rear sides (with the former a little marked).
This is an example of the deluxe edition limited to only 500 sets; a small printed numbered sheet of paper signed by Don Bradman was mounted in the first volume of each set when it was originally published. This set comes from the bindery archive and is out-of-series; accordingly, it does not contain the numbered and signed certificate. However, loosely inserted in the first volume is a large-format postcard (160 × 105 mm, issued by the State Library of South Australia) of the 1928 portrait photograph reproduced as the frontispiece; it is personally signed in blue ink by Don Bradman. Padwick II: 3559.
