One of this popular and ephemeral series from the Basel Mission. The title translates as 'Fruits of Missionary Work in China'. This number contains four short pieces: 'Kien's Geschichte' (Kien's Story), which recounts the conversion and baptism of a Formosan man; 'Ein christlicher Mandarin' (A Christian Mandarin), comprising a short biography of Yung Wing, the product of a missionary education in Canton and the first Chinese student to graduate from Yale; 'Ein Frühvollendeter' (Perfected Early, or A Life Cut Short), about Lim Kiam Kim, a missionary from the Penghu or Pescadores Islands in the Taiwan Strait (he was supported by Presbyterian missionary societies in Australia); and 'Wong Kiu Taik', a short biography of this important preacher from Fujian (a woodcut portrait of Reverend Wong and his wife Lydia is on the rear cover).
