Synthetic cloth; endpapers tanned; numerous relevant pencil annotations throughout (but see below); overall, an excellent copy with the excellent dustwrapper (a little scuffed).
The half-title is signed and dated by the author (Adelaide, 21 March 2002). Loosely inserted are some related ephemera (mainly newspaper cuttings concerning the Matthew Flinders bicentenary celebrations in South Australia), but including two colour photographs of the author at one of the events. Robert Brown (1773-1858) was the botanist on Flinders' circumnavigation in the 'Investigator' in 1801-03. Provenance: Ralph Grandison, a Robert Brown scholar.
