Pastoralist Colonel Jack Rupert Cyril Davies, M.C., V.D. (1882-1956) of the 12th Light Horse was awarded the Military Cross in the field after the charge of Beersheba. Sometime member of General Chauvel's staff during WW1, he was also Deputy-Director Recruiting A.I.F. during WW2 ('Australian Dictionary of Biography').
