Quarter calf and papered boards; spines decorated and lettered in gilt, with raised bands and a red morocco title-label; boards decorated in blind with the Banks arms and facsimile signature; all edges gilt; marbled endpapers; spines lightly creased; gilt leading edges lightly scuffed; a near-fine set in the near-fine slipcases.
Number 34 of only 500 sets of this fine facsimile edition of the manuscript held in the Mitchell Library, State Library of NSW; its transcription was first published only as recently as 1963. Lysaght's lengthy illustrated commentary includes a revised and extended version of her important 'Catalogue of Drawings by Alexander Buchan, Herman Diedrich Spoering and Sydney Parkinson', Banks's artists on the 'Endeavour'. HRH Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, supplied a three-page preface for this edition; his signature in blue ink at the end of it is a facsimile ... [2 items].
