Ernabella, Ernabella School, Presbyterian Mission, [early 1970s?].

Oblong octavo, three volumes, 17 photocopied leaves; 23 pages on 18 leaves; and 43 pages; with numerous line illustrations throughout.

Stapled photocopied leaves (Reader 1) and stapled pictorial card covers; minimal signs of handling; in excellent condition. The name of the author is written in pencil on the first page of each reader; an ownership signature (possibly J.D. Allen) is written in red ink on the front cover of the second and third items.

The only relevant record in Trove is for a series of these readers, numbered 1-9, in the Reverend W.H. Edwards archive in the State Library of South Australia. We take this to mean that copies of any of these readers are rare. Accordingly, we will provide a detailed collation of these first three readers.

Reader 1: 17 photocopied leaves (the front cover and 16 numbered pages, printed rectos only - two of them bound in upside down in this copy - a basic single-word picture book).

18 leaves (22 pages and an 'acknowledgment' identifying the author, comprising 18 pages of text on the rectos, with vignette illustrations, and full-page illustrations on versos 10, 22, 24 and 34; the last page is the acknowledgment).

43 pages (comprising the 'acknowledgment' and 21 double-page openings, all with a full-page illustration facing unillustrated text). [3 items].
