Small quarto, [24] pages with 48 vintage gelatin silver photographs (each approximately 65 × 110 mm) loosely inserted behind window mounts. Typed captions beneath each image are, in many cases, mounted over earlier ink captions.

Quarter cloth and papered boards, rebacked amateurishly with cloth tape; a few mounts a little torn; the photographs are generally in excellent to fine condition.

All photographs appear to be private snapshots, the majority of them taken in or around Khartoum. The most interesting ones are four showing military or civilian aircraft: Sir Alan Cobham's 'Singapore I' flying boat at Khartoum (apparently during his 1927 circumnavigation of Africa); a crashed aircraft at Said Pasha Barracks, Khartoum; and two Vickers Victoria troop transports. Another seven depict the British Fort in Khartoum; several include artillery pieces, one on an armoured train. About a dozen show civil engineering projects (dams, bridges, an ice works), or locals going about their business. The balance (approximately half the album) are routine tourist sights and scenes.
