POTTER, Beatrix

The Tale of Tom Kitten

London, Frederick Warne and Co., 1907 (first edition, deluxe issue).

Duodecimo, 85 pages with several blanks (as issued), title vignette, and 27 colour illustrations.

In the deluxe binding of gilt-blocked blue cloth, with a small mandorla-shaped colour plate mounted on the front cover; all edges gilt; covers slightly bowed and rubbed; early ownership signature at the head of page 3; a few trifling signs of age and handling; an excellent copy.

A bright and desirable example of the scarce deluxe edition (and undoubtedly rare in this condition). See Linder, page 427 (the first three printings are identical).
