A very large hand-coloured engraved map of the world in two sections (printed surface 860 × 830 mm and 860 × 828 mm respectively; sheet size 987 × 922 mm and 979 × 925 mm respectively), with each section cut into 12 panels mounted on linen, folded and cased in the publisher's portfolio (external dimensions 345 × 228 mm).
Original half roan and cloth, with a leather title-label ('World') on the front cover; maps mounted on the inside surface of the covers, with marbled paper on the exposed cloth panel (with 'East' and 'West' paper title-labels); leather a little rubbed and lightly worn at the extremities, with minor expert conservation to the head of the spine; foxing to only a few panels (confined mainly to the two panels closest to the boards in each instance); overall, in excellent condition.
