'This book is a copy of the notebook kept by Bombardier D.M. Forster, in which she recorded her service with the 58th Searchlight Battery during World War II. The 58th Searchlight Battery was based in South Australia. It is believed that the original of this manual is the only one in existence and is now housed in the Australian War Memorial in Canberra' (page [1]). The notebook commences on 19 April 1942 and continues until 17 August 1943, and covers 'various aspects of anti-aircraft searchlight operation. Illustrates the role of women in the defence of Australia' ('Australian War Memorial' website). With the ink signatures of Nan Monck and Barbara James, dated 9 July 1997. A loosely inserted sheet of paper provides the contact details for Monck and James, as contact names for 58th S/L Bty.
