Blind-stamped and -decorated cloth with a gilt-lettered contrasting cloth spine label; leading and bottom edges uncut (and leaves unopened after page 144); front cover with a tiny light mark; extremities slightly bumped; an excellent copy of an attractive volume.

With the contemporary lilac ink ownership signature of eminent Australian biochemist Hedley Ralph Marston (1900-1965). The second novel by Helen de Vere Beauclerk (née Bellingham; 1892-1969). She lived with artist Edmund Dulac from 1924 until his death in 1953; only two of Beauclerk's seven fantasy novels were illustrated by Dulac.
