Red cloth (lettered in gilt on the spine) a little sunned, marked and bumped at the extremities; edges uncut and substantially unopened; endpapers and adjacent leaves a little tanned; a few leaves carelessly opened with some minor loss to the leading margin; a very good copy.
A first-hand account of the Boxer Rebellion, and a travelogue of China under the occupation of the Eight-Nation Alliance. Provenance: the verso of the half-title has an early gift inscription ('Souvenir from Mr & Mrs Woodzell, to dear Joe, for his Barmitzvah'); the half-title is signed 'Joe W. Myers'.
