Australian Indigenous Orchids. The Epiphytes. The Tropical Terrestrial Species

Chipping Norton, Surrey Beatty & Sons in association with Society for Growing Australian Plants, 1992 (completely revised edition)/ 1969.

Quarto, two volumes, xxviii, 524, xxix-xlvi (appendix), [xlvii-xlviii] (errata, verso blank), and xlix-liv, 525-1062 pages with hundreds of diagrams and 158 pages of colour illustrations from photographs plus the Additional Addendum insert in each volume (an identical bifolium).

Colour-pictorial papered boards slightly scuffed; a near-fine set.

'Subsequent to the first edition (published in 1969) ... there has been considerable field work in tropical Australia and research in herbaria and laboratories ... resulting in 50 species being added to the list of tropical Australian orchids, only a few of which were known to exist but not identified in 1969 ... There have been, for various reasons, 59 name changes. In the field of systematics there have been several systems of classification proposed by a number of authors, all of the systems apparently more natural than the traditional Schlecter system used in the 1969 edition. All of this new information dictated the need for this revision' (preface). [2 items].
