Quarto, two volumes, [iv], 102 and [iv], 104 pages plus an engraved title in each volume and 36 engraved plates with tissue-guards.
Early mottled calf, spine tooled in gilt with contrasting lettering-pieces, sides bordered with gilt rolls; all edges gilt; covers a little worn, with both backstrips detached or partially so; tissue-guards a little tanned or foxed in places; a few minor signs of age and use, but internally a crisp, clean, wide-margined set in excellent condition, meriting a sympathetic restoration of the bindings.
The 36 plates, illustrating scenes from Russian history to 1861, are engraved by François-Anne David after designs by Nicolas Lejeune and Charles Monnet. A third volume was published in 1806 under David's own imprint. [2 items].
