The Story of Tea, with Hand Paintings
[No Place, No publisher, circa 1920s].
Small octavo, a 27-panel leporello, comprising the title page and 12 watercolours on silk (each approximately 130 × 90 mm), each facing a page of descriptive letterpress in both English and Chinese.
Wooden boards (with the Chinese character 'fú' engraved on the front cover); top and bottom edges gilt; one fold splitting at the foot; pastedowns a little cockled; minimal foxing; in excellent condition.
One of several editions of this pictorial promotional publication outlining the various stages of tea production (picking, sorting, roasting, and packing), with text in Chinese and English. The book does not contain any bibliographical information, but comparison with other examples suggests a date around the early or middle parts of the Republican Era.
