A signed vintage portrait photograph of Anthony Eden
A gelatin silver photograph (162 × 119 mm), mounted on stiff card behind transparent acetate in a contemporary frame of limp leather, bordered with gilt rolls and mounted on a firm backing board with an integral folding support (external dimensions 210 × 156 mm).
Photograph a little silvered-out about the margins; mat slightly foxed; leather frame lightly rubbed at the corners; in excellent condition.
The photograph is inscribed and signed 'To John, with Gratitude from Anthony, 1963'; the mat is signed in ink 'Vivienne, London' (the usual credit of photographer Florence Vivienne Mellish). Documentation accompanying the photograph indicates that it was presented to Sir John Montague-Stow (1911-1997), Governor-General of Barbados (and previously that country's last British Governor).
