Cloth sunned on the spine and flecked on the sides; a few cancelled institutional library stamps and a bookplate (but see below); bottom corner of about 50 consecutive leaves a little bumped; a very good copy.
This issue contains two other articles by R.H. MATHEWS: The Aboriginal Fisheries at Brewarrina (11 pages with an illustration and a diagram), and Notes on Some Native Dialects of Victoria (11 pages with an illustration). The substantial volume (of approximately 650 pages plus plates and folding illustrations) contains another 29 articles on a wide variety of subjects, including geology, botany and chemistry, and 13 in the lengthy engineering supplement. Provenance: G.H. Knibbs, with his signature in pencil on the verso of the front free endpaper. Sir George Handley Knibbs (1858-1929), statistician (indeed, the first Commonwealth Statistician); he is also listed in this volume as one of the Honorary Secretaries (who are credited as its editors). At some stage the book entered the Australian National University Library (its bookplate and inkstamp are on the front pastedown), then the State Herbarium of South Australian in December 1965, before being discarded yet again.
