Number 7 of only 99 copies of the deluxe issue, from a total edition of just 300 copies. The first edition of the 'most complete account of the expedition to be published ... the only one for which no manuscript diary or fair copy survives'. The twenty-four-page introduction by Valmai Hankel is new to this edition. A publisher's note (advising that publication had been delayed) is loosely inserted.
