A selection of 13 mounted photographs from various 'Lawrence Frost's Album of Australian Scenery' series

Thirteen albumen silver photographs (including one duplicate) mounted on card within thin borders printed in red (external dimensions approximately 240 × 300 mm), with ten plates approximately 140 × 195 mm; two plates approximately 165 × 215 mm; and one approximately 140 × 175 mm.
All mounts and photographs lightly buckled; most mounts a little foxed, with some edges and corners a little chipped or bumped; two prints faded (one is the duplicate); insect and water damage to one mount ('No. 2 ... Rushcutter's Bay'); overall, in very good condition, now housed in a later stiffened cloth portfolio.
The subjects of the photographs are identified by numbered printed captions, or on printed plates on the verso of the mount (there are two exceptions: one has the caption printed on the mount, one has no caption). The printed labels advertise various series produced by Frost, and judging by the variety of printed borders present, and the numerous manuscript corrections to the caption numbers, it would appear that he may have mixed and matched them to cater for demand. The Head of Neutral Bay; 16. Public Buildings; 18. Towards Darling Harbour; and [unnumbered]. Sydney from Campbell's Wharf. Provenance: Geoffrey Ingleton, with the G. & N. Ingleton bookplate on the verso of nine mounts and the inside front flap of the portfolio. These items later entered the collection of Melbourne photographer and pioneering gallerist Joyce Evans OAM (1929-2019), who subsequently added another four items (her 1989 purchase receipt is still present).
