A bookplate for Eric Glenie Bonython by F.W.G. Mathwin, offered together with a short autograph letter signed by Bonython presenting it to Harry Muir
The bookplate is in fine condition; the letter is folded for posting, with a short unrelated pencilled annotation on the verso, but otherwise in near-fine condition.
The letter (octavo, on the letterhead of Trenance, Bonython's country house in the Bugle Ranges) reads in full: '25 March 1959. Dear Mr Muir, I believe you collect book plates. I send you mine. I meant to do so quite ten years ago. Yours truly, E.G. Bonython'. Eric Glenie Bonython (1910-1971) was a member of 'one of South Australia's wealthiest and most famous' families ('Australian Dictionary of Biography'). Peake 564. Provenance: H.B.
