Blind-stamped blue cloth lettered in gilt on the spine; top edge gilt, bottom one uncut; cloth slightly rubbed and sunned, with two tiny bruises to the leading edge of the front cover; trifling signs of use and age; a very good copy.

Eleanora Mary, Baroness d'Anethan (1858-1935), sister of the author Rider Haggard, and widow of Baron Albert d'Anethan ('Belgian Minister to the Court of Japan'), spent the years 1893 to 1906 in Japan.
