Studies in Medieval & Reformation Thought series, Volume 40. The Latin text is edited by Irena Backus, with substantial critical apparatus and introduction in English. 'This book is a critical edition of the Commentary written by M. Bucer (1491-1551), the Strasbourg reformer; Bucer's Commentary appeared after the Berne disputation of January 1528, was then revised in 1530 after the Marburg colloquy, and again in 1536 after the Wittenberg Concord. The text of the Commentary is strongly marked by anti-Lutheran polemic which was toned down, although not altogether removed, in 1536. All three versions also contain attacks on the Church of Rome and on the Anabaptists' (dustwrapper blurb).
