Large folio, two volumes (505 × 345 mm), [viii] pages plus a total of 48 hand-coloured engraved maps, each with an accompanying index (ranging from one to eight pages each).

Original half morocco and cloth, lettered in gilt on the spines and decorated and ornately lettered in gilt on the front covers; spines expertly lined with cloth, retaining the original leather; leather rubbed and a little worn at the extremities; minor blemishes to the cloth; the first volume has the leading edge of the front flyleaf chipped, and a crease to the bottom corner of an initial blank leaf and the title leaf; minor signs of use and age; a very good set.
