Later full calf lettered and ruled in gilt (perhaps early 19th century), restored and rebacked at a later date, retaining the backstrip; boards a little bowed, with slight wear to the leather along the top and leading edges; unobtrusive wormholes to the bottom margin thoughout; some leaves at the beginning and end of the volume lightly marked; a few minor signs of age and use; old ownership signature (M. Anderson) and the capital letter H in ink on the title page; a very good copy.
A plain but attractive edition of Claudian's works edited and published by Simon de Colines, one of the leading lights of early French printing. This edition comprises 'De Raptu Proserpinae', 'In Ruffinum', 'De Bello Gildonico', 'Epithalamium in Nuptijs Honorii & Mariae', 'Eiusdem Panegyrici', 'In Eutropium', 'De Bello Getico', and 'Euisdem Epigrammata Quaedam'. The erroneous pagination of the final leaves is noted in Renouard's 'Bibliographie des éditions de Simon de Colines', and the text is complete.
