White-pictorial brown cloth, lettered in black on the front cover and in gilt on the spine; leading and bottom edges uncut; covers lightly rubbed and marked, with a tiny snag at the head of the spine; top edge and endpapers slightly foxed or offset, with minimal foxing to a few other leaves; folding map a little creased, marked and foxed with trifling and unobtrusive restoration to a few blemishes; overall, an excellent copy.
Provenance: H.M. Cooper, with his signature on the front flyleaf. Harold More Cooper (1886-1970), wireless operator, archaeologist, historian, and author of several books on South Australian maritime history ('Australian Dictionary of Biography').
