The black front free endpaper, printed with a small portrait of a young Able Seaman Connery, is inscribed in silver ink 'For Robert | all best wishes | from Sean'. His co-author has added his first-name signature and an appealing doodle, captioned 'Slainte!'. The recipient is Robert Gerard, erstwhile Australian captain of industry (think Gerard Industries).
