More than 500 items of ethnic jewellery from the collection of Truus and Joost Daalder are illustrated and described in the book, along with nearly 200 other objects from the South Australian Museum. One important aspect of the book is 'the opportunity it provides to range across many of the world's cultural traditions through one particular aesthetic mode, that of the adorned and decorated body. Aboriginal adornment has been infrequently examined in the literature or through exhibition. This book will go a long way towards addressing that lack, and will enable these objects to be regarded within an international context. It will also provide a powerful counterbalance to the ponderous stereotypes often attached to Aboriginal cultural material' (Dr Philip Jones, preface).
