Quarter vellum and gilt-decorated cloth; vellum a little marked and rubbed; covers a little splash-marked, lightly bubbled and sunned; edges slightly marked; endpapers, and first and last pages a little offset; occasional ink marginalia (chiefly to two pages in the Table of Correspondences, with a page of notes on the colophon); commercial bookplate (with ownership details in ink) and the contemporary label of the booksellers Samuel Weiser, Inc. on the front pastedown; overall a very good copy.
