Of the Arte Goetia
York Beach, Teitan Press, 2015.
Small quarto, viii, 280 pages.
Gilt-pictorial black cloth; a fine copy with the very lightly marked slipcase.
One of the deluxe numbered edition limited to 72 copies; each one is signed by the author, 'with an original hand-drawn seal of one of the Spirits of Goetia housed in a pocket at the rear of the volume. These copies [are] designated by the name and number of the Spirit' (this is copy 50: Furcas). 'This present work was composed with several aims in mind, the chief of which was to trace the emergence of "Goetia" [sorcery] into the English language manuscripts with which it is now so closely identified. By comparing the known sources and influences, it is possible to observe the subtle and not-so-subtle changes; the errors, omissions, inclusions, and other alterations that together combine to create the text as we know it' (at the end of the introductory chapter).
