Adelaide, [The Author], 1971.
Octavo, [xxiv], 309 pages with 13 maps plus 30 pages of plates.
Cloth lightly bumped and marked; an excellent copy with the dustwrapper (plain white paper with green lettering, now faded to blue) slightly marked, creased, torn and chipped, with slight loss to the leading edges. (A variant dustwrapper was also issued: it is a red and green pictorial dustwrapper, with illustrations front and rear, and text on both flaps. This includes the following: 'Funds accrued from the sales of this book will be donated to Legacy... Here, again, we gratefully acknowledge the splendid contribution that has been made by Mr Bert Bache (2/2nd) in designing and giving this impressive Dust Jacket').
The author was chaplain to a succession of eight commando squadrons during World War 2. Loosely inserted in this copy is the official AMF 'Certificate of Discharge' certifying that VX102581 Trooper Robert Alexander Cyril Davis, 2/7 Australian Commando Squadron, served on continuous full time war service for a total effective period of 1278 days, which included 496 days on active service outside Australia (in New Guinea).
