Small square octavo, viii, 158 pages with numerous illustrations (many from photographs).
Light blue pictorial cloth a little rubbed and flecked, with minimal wear and one tiny bruise to the extremities; trifling signs of age and use (including some unobtrusive ink annotations to two pages); overall, an excellent copy with the lightly marked and creased dustwrapper.
With the two-colour bookplate (by George Perrottet, dated 1942) of horticulturalist, naturalist and author Edward Edgar Pescott (1872-1954). Loosely inserted are some orchid-related newspaper cuttings, a postcard-format photograph of an orchid, possibly taken by Pescott (inscribed on the verso 'Dendrobium? H. Overall, NSW 1927. Rupp form or var of Speciosum'), and two copies of a 1934 leaflet catalogue of orchids from Herman Withers, Brunswick Heads, NSW.
