The well-executed drawing is on good-quality watermarked paper (227 × 178 mm); apart from a (drawing)-pinhole in each corner, and a short sealed tear to one edge, the appealing item is in excellent condition.
The artist is 1894 Air Mechanic Sydney English, Aeroplane Repair Section, stationed at the time at the Australian Flying Corps Training Depot at Wendover, Buckinghamshire. He was a twenty-something iron founder from Northcote in Victoria when he enlisted on 27 April 1917; his artistic skills would appear to be innate.
