London, Bickers and Son, 1883 [this edition first published 1878].
Octavo, xiv, 404 pages plus 12 Woodburytypes ('illustrations reproduced in exact facsimile, from drawings made during the voyages').
Publisher's navy blue full calf (with an inkstamp to that effect at the foot of the verso of the front flyleaf), the spine extensively gilt-decorated in compartments with a contrasting title label, the sides ruled in gilt, the edges of the boards decorated in gilt, and with blind inner dentelles; all edges and endpapers marbled; leather lightly rubbed; essentially a fine copy.
Not rare, but rarely seen in such sparkling condition - and the numerous Woodburytypes show the process at its best. Beddie 178.
