New York, Richard R. Smith Inc. (but printed by Lowe & Brydone Limited, London), 1930 [first American edition, in the same year as the first edition in London].

Octavo, 288 pages extensively printed in colour, with numerous colour illustrations and decorations (plus endpaper illustrations) by Gilbert Rumbold; there is no erratum slip on page 25.

Quarter black cloth and colour-pictorial gold foil-covered boards; cloth a little rubbed and marked, with minor wear to the ends of the spine; foil worn away from most of the edges of the boards, with minor loss near the edges (and to a few small spots on the rear cover); inner hinges cracked but holding up well; top edge dyed green, leading edge a little thumbed; small light marks to six pages, and light creases to the bottom corner-tips of about ten leaves (and the top corners of a few leaves); later commercial bookplate on the verso of the front flyleaf; overall a very decent copy of this Art Deco classic.
