The Central Aborigines Reserve. Presidential Address, 21st October, 1957. Aborigines Advancement League of South Australia, Incorporated [drop-title]

Adelaide, The League, 1957.

Octavo, [6] pages (presented as a gatefold printed on a single sheet).

Top edges slightly chipped, with a few trifling marginal blemishes and tiny marks elsewhere; some creases where folded, with a short marginal split to one of them; a decent copy.

The head of the first page is inscribed 'To Pastor F.W. Albrecht with my compliments & best wishes for a brighter 1958. Charles Duguid. 11.12.57'. Both men devoted their long lives to working for Indigenous Australians. Dr Charles Duguid (1884-1986), medical practitioner and Aboriginal rights campaigner, first met Friedrich Wilhelm Albrecht (1894-1984), the Lutheran missionary who succeeded Pastor Carl Strehlow at Hermannsburg (and was superintendent there from 1926 to 1963), in 1934. He was instrumental in establishing Ernabella Mission in 1937. Their potted biographies in the 'Australian Dictionary of Biography' are fair-minded in their assessments.
