Loosely inserted is a trade invitation to an event in New York in 1991, addressed to 'Hon & Mrs C J Hurford | Consulate of Australia'. Chris Hurford was the Labor Party MP for Adelaide from 1969 to late 1987; on his resignation from Parliament at the end of 1987, he became Australia's Consul-General in New York for four years. The front flyleaf is inscribed 'To Chris | with all good wishes - & thanks to the Dalys & the McCarthys for sending you there in the first place. [Signed] James [indecipherable] | April 1989'.
