Highlights include a seventeenth-century Dutch armoire; rare Antarctic photographs by Frank Hurley, T.W. Edgeworth David and Andrew Watson (among the first images of that part of the continent); artefacts taken on Mawson's Antarctic expeditions; and a singular oil painting by Charles Harrisson, artist and biologist on Mawson's Australasian Antarctic Expedition, 1911-1914, presented to Douglas and his bride Paquita Delprat on their wedding day in March 1914.
