Sydney, Angus and Robertson, 1933 (fourth edition)/ 1931.
Octavo, x, 293, (colophon) pages with numerous line illustrations.
Original dark blue cloth lettered and ruled in gilt on the spine; corners slightly bumped; flyleaves offset; front inner hinge very slightly cracked; early ownership signature and bookseller's label on the front endpaper; a near-fine copy with the dustwrapper in excellent condition albeit a little marked and chipped on the spine with minor loss at the foot (and the bookseller placed his small label on the front panel).
The first four editions each comprised 2000 copies. The lengthy chapter on prospecting for oil by Dr W.G. Woolnough was new to this fourth edition. The introduction indicates that other chapters added since the first edition were on 'Reefing, Battery Work, Amalgamation, Cyaniding, and the search for Opals [24 pages]'.
