Davis and Stanbury list William Hall at this address from 1890 to 1892. The substantial church may still be standing; its unusual spire would make it stand out to this day. What gives this image greater appeal though is its ephemeral content: the lone tree, the simple cottage, the expanse of rough paling fences, and the numerous children - mainly girls - along the footpath. Apart from some foxing to the gelatin silver print, the item is in very good condition.
