The Tale of Mister Tootleoo
London, The Nonesuch Press, [1925] (first edition).
Oblong quarto, [90] pages with 22 full-page colour plates.
Pictorial papered boards with the large relief coin printed in the centre of the front cover; flyleaves a little offset, with the rear one creased; essentially a fine copy with the slightly chipped dustwrapper (with the coin design visible through a circular window in the front panel).
A delightful children's book in verse by Bernard Darwin, better known for his writings on golf (and for being a grandson of the more famous Charles); the charming colour lithographs are by his wife Elinor. Offered together with the matching 1927 sequel, 'Tootleoo Too' ([82] pages with 20 full-page colour plates), in equally attractive condition, complete with the dustwrapper (a little sunned, chipped and torn).
