Fishing under Sail. Edited from the original manuscript by Glen Ralph

Lockleys, Wilmar Library, February 1993.

Foolscap folio, [vi], 92, [1] (index) leaves of processed typescript (printed rectos only) with a map of southern Yorke Peninsula and a reproduction of an illustrated newspaper interview with Ron Beck by Max Fatchen, plus 3 original colour photographs (each approximately 150 x 100 mm) mounted on two early leaves. Two of the photographs are portraits of the author (one in army uniform during the Second World War).

Binder's cloth lettered in gilt on the spine; a fine copy.

The autobiography of a professional fisherman, born on Yorke Peninsula in 1921, the son of a Gallipoli veteran who first took his son to sea when he was aged two. The edition was limited to 20 copies signed by Ron Beck, 'for private circulation only'; this is number 20. Although it is not identified as such, this is the editor's copy, from his estate. Loosely inserted is a photocopy of a later newspaper article relating to 'Rambler', one of the fishing boats mentioned in the book.
